Portuguese 930

Post by John Faulkner, Skegness » 14 Jan 2020 11:41

Did anybody ID the Portuguese station on 930 early in the morning? Quite a good signal at 01:50. Serious male speaker. Not sure if religious.

There was a strong carrier at 930.0048 at the time and I assume this was the Portuguese station. CJYQ was at 929.9998 and there was a US male talk station in there briefly.

This was on the same offset at 02:31. There seems to be an ID and jingle, but it sounds more Spanish than Portuguese, although I can't be sure.

This is an interesting one. Definitely an ID of sorts on your recording. I say 'of sorts' as I can't find anything in the MW List sounding quite like that. What is he saying? "Escuchar Santa Maria (It's not quite 'Santa Maria' though)... Radio Baltan Sing."

Here is my 02:31-02:32 .... https://app.box.com/s/6pq9mwvj8ih8r4a4i6h9x2dwbl7d4ai7

It's in there, but only just. I can't hear an ID in my recording, only very weak speech, and that's not easy in itself.

MW List reports more loggings of La Voz de Bogotá than any other South / Central American but your ID doesn't sound anything like that. Worth posting your recording to RealDX perhaps?

... and yes, it is Spanish! :)

Not a great recording, but two "La Voz de Bogata"s after the music.

I don't think I am going to be able to find an ID and I need to know I have the same station as you Simon. At exactly what time did you catch the ID itself?

02:31'36 and 02:31'40. The first one starts immediately after the CJYQ cover of Springsteen woman finishes "ooooo fire" !

I think that you may have just too good a peak of CJYQ. I doubt if it helps, but I had lsb and both LO and HI noise selected to reduce CJYQ, but I suspect that is very local to my reception.

Thank you very much for this Simon. Sadly, it's just too weak. I have to go USB too which cuts down CJYQ, but even it still overpowers my Spanish. It's one of those stations which I dare say may return again one day. A bit of perseverance needed here.

There are a few other bursts of this station but CJYQ tends to dominate. I'll report back if I am able to dig anything out.

Thanks again.

Hello Julius.

I saw that. I checked around 02:00 and there was something very weak behind CJYQ, but CJYQ dominated in spite of it being weak itself.

Thanks for the tip anyway. Appreciated. I have been keeping an eye on MW List maps for nuggets like this. I think it's great that we can share our catches like this. http://www.mwlist.org/mw_logmap.php
