Sony XDR-F1HD vs Kenwood KDC-BT710 car stereo selectivity test

Post by zach_m » 03 Jan 2019 20:56

At first, when I posted on this forum regarding selectivity about Kenwood KDC-BT710DAB car stereo I thought it's about the same as the famous Sony XR-F1HD. Since I have both radios now, I decided to compare the selectivity on FM. Here is a video receiving 92.7 BBC R4 from Sutton Coldfield TX, (tropo 250kW@145km) next to local 92.6 Radio Verulam. Nothing has been edited - raw file- recorded directly via mic-in line into the camera. Station switched via Behringer mixer.

I think Kenwood easily outperform Sony in this test!

The car radio obviously has a narrower default bandwidth. With the Konrad mod you can very finely adjust the Sony BW up to 309 kHz and down to 9 kHz. Be a very different comparison then.....
