looks like theres some bugs to be ironed out

will still be interested in picking one up when they start flooding the 2nd hand market at reasonable prices but the awful present state of HF and some of the bugs reported have definitely "chilled my beans" as you trendy young people say

"I just did a quick test of the TX intermod on my shiny IC-7300 at various power levels:

Power IP (max wrt PEP)

10W -33dB

20W -32dB

30W -32dB

40W -32dB

50W -33dB

60W -34dB

70W -37dB

80W -41dB

90W -37dB

100W -37dB

Measured with 2-tone generator into Aux input and Rigol DSA815 spectrum analyser.

I only tested this on 7MHz

Note how the IP's do not improve at lower powers but actuially get worse bleow 80W....

report from a UK based dxer

in fairness can you imagine trying to find kit that doesn't overload when you live next to sandale?

"Hi Clemens.
Yes, I have the same starting at 31.53MHz and repeating every 2.2MHz, the same spacing as the high power FM services. The FM station is only 5 miles away and is 200kW ERP.

I only identified one:
33.73MHz == 90.3MHz

To the Gentleman who owns one of these @knobtwiddler

How was it on OIRT this summer I’m imagining it was fricking awesome!

Oh that bandscope! <drool>

If I can make some space on the desk I’m considering getting a second hand one

I own a 7300 - it is an extremely popular rig and for the price is unbeatable. Couple of cosmetic issues - only 1 antenna socket and needs external board for transverter output. However you can't have everything for less than £1200. The 2nd hand price on eBay is very attractive.

I've never used it on OIRT and I inject a note of caution here. My UK rig does tune the OIRT band but the manual states some frequency ranges are not guaranteed. 4m is not allowed in France - I don't know if there is a French version that won't tune above 6m.
