1500 - Possible KSTP

Post by simbeav »

A station came up above WFED on 1500 around 22:40 last night. Mentions of "Sports Radio" and the web address "could" have been skornorth.com. Also a VERY tentative KSTP at 22:41'21. Not enough for me to log, but may help somebody else if they have it with less splatter.

Nothing ID'd here other than WFED. There were other carriers and some were just about reaching audio level. A quick screen grab attached - not calibrated.

This is mine - You have the same enhancement , but probably a more constant WFED

Plus that brief blackout on the right most carrier.

I presume you have your waterfall gain set to max? If so, your band is obviously very much quieter than mine.

By gain, do you mean the Contrast setting ? I always have that set to 1. Anything else and totally inaudible signals are red and noise dots appear all over the screen ! I think it's the amplified loop.

I also tend to use the XRAY style. It seems to be more likely to indicate audible signals for me.

It would be the amplified loop. I don't have an amplifier at the moment after the transistor blew. My gain is set to maximum.

I agree about the X-RAY facility. As things are using the standard setting, red means audible. Anything yellow is well down under my noise floor - unless it's a very quiet frequency.
