Interesting pile-up on 106.9 at 06:00 16-06-20

Maybe something, maybe not, but there are three stations fighting here. Although brief, the language of one of them sounds very unfamiliar.

This certainly does, thank you PFM! I think it's safe to say that the number mails it. Again, thank you! :)

Re: Ukraine 107.7?

I am keeping my fingers crossed David. But I fear I will have missed the boat on this one. As you may have read elsewhere, this recording was made with meteor scatter in mind. I recorded the top of the band and with my antenna vertical, so I cannot expect miracles. I did not expect to hear such an e...

Ukraine 107.7?

https://app.box.com/s/oc81aevipdw42d27x6a34uxrqch57lz9

I think the short jingle stab says "Hit" and then a mention of "Hit number one", but I could be mistaken. This would be a 90 watt Ukrainian vertical if so. Could it be? ......

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

UNID 104.1. Possibly Ukraine?

https://app.box.com/s/6uu2sltsejavboton4sljz3h4qr8rtii There is a music-only jingle at 25 seconds which I hope will give a clue. Received during an excellent opening to central Europe on the 16th. I stumbled on this accidentally as I was recording for meteor scatter. My antenna was vertical and I ca...

Re: Ukraine on Band II - RDS codes

I also had Ukraine earlier Dave, right to the top of the band. Many signals were wide and distorted. Some had serious audio issues. I made recordings due to lack of time, probably the way things are going to be from now on this season, but just to point out that many of the transmitters were better ...

Re: Short Es Denmark - New personal record! 617 km

Thanks Jim. I was initially skeptical about this being Es myself. You could argue that it was off-path with the rest of the Es, but that may (or may not) mean anything, so I purposely recorded 97.2 this afternoon after the Es had died down and ran the Console v3 File Analyser to look for instances o...

Short Es Denmark - New personal record! 617 km

I just received Denmark on 97.2 via E skip at 617 km. This is a new personal short distance record. I cannot see this being tropo as it reached PI strength.

Re: Are we having fun yet?

What a great post Jorge. You have got me philosophising too. You are right that we don't always appreciate the beauty we have around us. I consider radio wave propagation to be one of those natural beauties in a way. It's something we have no control over and it fills our hearts with happiness and e...

The Brazilian 1380 mystery continues!

There was quite a lengthy discussion about this on RealDX a few weeks ago. DXers were wondering whether the Brazilian station 1380, which takes the Radio Deus E Amor programming, is Radio Itai. The conversation became so confusing to me that I decided to ignore this and get a recording of an actual ...

Re: Are we having fun yet?

If Es are caused by the jet stream winds ionising meteor particles, as Mr Bacon says, then there's not a lot of any of it in the right place over the European mainland at the moment. There is a strong jet stream almost half way between the UK and Iceland at the moment, plus quite a lot of jet stream...

Re: Fireball DXing

I find it hard to believe that a fireball won't produce scatter. A plane is simply a reflective metal object in the sky. I would imagine radio hams would be best placed to have experienced meteor scatter via a fireball. Maybe there is some documentation.

Re: Are we having fun yet?

It's really quietened off over the last week. We knew this could happen, but this lull has been a big surprise. I wonder where 2020 sits now in the league tables.
