Re: More Flag advice needed !

This might be of use to some: turns count on BN73-202:

7 and 2: 9:1 (EWE / beverage)
9 and 2: 16:1 (closed loop)
10 and 2: 19:1 (triangular KAZ loop)

2 turns on the coax end.

Re: More Flag advice needed !

From what i remember ratio between vertical and horizontal parts of a closed loop should be something like from 1.5:1 to 2.5:1 I used a 12 x 27 foot loop for years and it worked great. See the plots here: https://www.bamlog.com/superloop.htm the triangular KAZ loop worked well at my place too: http:...

Re: Tip - 610 - Radio Itatiaia

Definitely DX in my book Simon! I check for the South Americans all the time. I often notice lots of weak signals from the south west being hammered by adjacent Spanish channels. 610 fairly clear here though. i was telling John by email that i managed Uruguay on 770 last night which is something of ...

Re: The 2019/2020 MW DX Season. Poor?

I remember dawn receptions in the past far from solar minimum which were pure magic, as if you were tuning around on the east coast of North America. Just isn't happening at the moment. Tell you the truth I'd be more inclined to hearing Latin American stuff but it's bloody difficult, Spain just swam...

Re: DX Tip: 1380 OCY4U Radio Nuevo Tiempo, Lima

My thinking was "meh, conditions have knocked the regulars back a bit but not enough for a latin takeover" - But as your log shows there's always something interesting lurking around in disturbed conditions. 15 mins after sunset in Lima btw.

Ultra lightweight set up for going portable.

Any suggestions? what would be an ultra lightweight set up for doing a bit of outdoor signal trawling: You know, set up BOG, record and get home to peruse recorded files.

Ideas on rx, laptop (or other device) would be interesting.
