Re: Perseus Fault?

Sod's Law has taken over. I got the new coax out, nicely concealed behind fences, then I found out that it was just a couple of metres short of reaching the wire/earth rod. So I attempted to create another length to bridge the gap and then found myself suffering from a migraine. Luckily I hav...

Re: Perseus Fault?

I've just re-typed part of my last post as it became a bit jumbled. Back to the beverage before the weather gets worse.

Re: 0700 file 27-2-20

Appreciate the tip Simon. Sadly not a chance of anything on 1330 because of nearby Gold Cambridgeshire on 1332. That thing kicks out a hefty signal in my direction removing anything on 1330 and 1340. It's 71km from Skegness, but here at the farm it's much closer and even wipes out LSB on 1350!

Re: 1590 North American

Thanks for checking. So WARV? With a new news bulletin then. I can't hear WARV at 31 seconds as you say David, but if you've got that in your own recording then that's all I need to know. Thanks for the info.

1590 North American

https://app.box.com/s/44zeypifqzmbgk73flescfaqsrdb6lhe This seems to be a new one for me, whoever it is. I have not heard this news jingle before on 1590. My recording starts at 02:59:25 and the woman appears to be saying "You've been listening ... ". This style sounds like it could be WARV, but the...

Re: 0700 file 27-2-20

Not a great morning here. Not really getting much in the way of Colombia. Well done on 1510 KMND Paul! Barely getting WLAC. Lots more black on the waterfall and earlier fade-outs now. 07:00 is possible, but generally 06:00 is the latest reliable toh. Hmm.

Re: 1580 - Any ideas ?

.995 was weak here but audible on CKDO fades. It did not ID over the hour at 06:00 when it peaked nicely. Just OM speech. .011 was not quite at audio level.

Re: Perseus Fault?

Hello Noel. This week didn't go according to plan. I wanted to re-install the Perseus software but didn't get around to it for one reason or another. I probably didn't need to bother anyway as I realised that part of the problem was a short on the coax feed. I spent all yesterday evening stripping d...

Re: XERF like a local

I saw this on the waterfall this morning. A good signal. Will listen later as getting ready to go to girlfriend's. I hope the beverage/Perseus won't let me down this time.

Re: 1020 Artemisa, Cuba (0200)

Quite different here Paul. Thanks for the tip. I think I can hear the man about a minute before 02:00, but he soon fades out. KDKA dominates, mostly. Maybe next time.

Re: 1510 distorted audio

Same here, similar levels to WLAC. Too distorted to make anything out.

Yes, a great signal, but then ... 50 kW! I was blown away by this. Thank you very much for the tip. Another personal first.

Re: 1550

I NEVER check 1550 because of the splatter. So much so that I hadn't realised how less-splattered it was these days. I checked 1550 at said time, David/Simon, and this is what I had ....

Re: The weirdest of conditions once again

Nothing else really audible. The country music becomes talk on the same offset, so presume a different station fading in. I checked my recording from the 16th while I still have it. There's a talk station (the same?) and a CBS sports station also appearing on 1300, neither of which are WOOD. This is...

Re: The weirdest of conditions once again

Got it here. Not found an ID yet. There's a peak at 03:49 and a country song finishes then a male announcer says something. Not sure what. Splatter splatter splatter! Still looking at it.

Re: The weirdest of conditions once again

There's no accounting for this. Just like the old two band 1 TVs, each the same channel, the same shared antenna, yet showing different E skip stations.

The weirdest of conditions once again

The band seems hopeless once more. Nothing exciting happening anywhere. East coast regular, as so often happens lately, so weak or not even there. But rarity WGRB Chicago happens to fade up for a few seconds and just right for an "Inspiration 13-90" ID at 05:39:33.

Just weird!

Amazing! Well done on those two. KKTX is impressive.

1360 is also messed up here by the UK stuff on 1359.

Re: Perseus Fault?

Thanks for your reply Noel and for all the suggestions. I will try the re-installation tomorrow when I get back home. I hope this is all that's wrong, but I now realise that this has been building up for a while. I am getting 6V from the PSU. Without checking, I can't remember it should be, also wha...
